Extraction built for geological documents, not just OCR

logdog.ai understands drill log structure — multi-hole files, tables that span pages, abbreviated field notes — and extracts everything into structured data.

Upload

Drop PDFs in any format, any age, even multi-hole documents. No preprocessing required.

  • Scanned legacy logs
  • Handwritten forms
  • Multiple holes per file
AI Processes

AI understands geological document structure — pages classified, tables stitched, descriptions enriched.

  • Pages automatically classified
  • Tables merged across pages
  • Lithology descriptions enriched

Structured drill hole data organized by hole, ready for your software.

  • Collar, Survey, Lithology, Assays
  • Excel, CSV, or JSON format
  • Source traceability included

Automatic Page Classification

Every page is classified before extraction. The system recognizes what kind of page it's looking at and applies the right extraction strategy.

  • Cover PagesProject metadata, hole IDs
  • Collar HeadersLocation, azimuth, dip, depth
  • Log PagesLithology depth intervals
  • Assay TablesLab results, element values

Multi-Page Table Merging

Drill logs routinely span many pages. A single lithology table might run across pages 3–8, and one document may contain multiple holes. LogDog detects and stitches tables into continuous datasets per hole.

  • Automatic DetectionMatching columns and depth continuity per hole
  • Seamless StitchingMerged into one continuous dataset per hole
  • Source ProvenanceEvery row traces back to its source page

Lithology Enrichment

The AI reads the geologist's original descriptive text and extracts structured fields from it. Nothing is inferred or hallucinated — every value traces back to what the geologist wrote.

Why we built logdog.ai

Scanned 1985 diamond drilling log — handwritten hole details and typewritten lithology descriptions on a Ministry form
A 1985 diamond drilling log — the kind of record LogDog turns into data.

The team behind LogDog brings two decades of experience shipping enterprise AI and data products, including years of DARPA- and USGS-backed research applying vision-language models to geological maps and mining reports — work presented at industry conferences across North America and grounded in hundreds of working sessions with exploration geologists. LogDog was built independently, from the ground up, on that experience: purpose-built AI for the decades of drill logs the industry already owns.

Built for the way you work

Whether you're digitizing a single property or processing an entire archive at volume.

Common questions

Yes — drop any PDF up to 10 MB and we process the first 5 pages at no cost, with no email required. You don't need to trim your document — upload the whole file and we simply read the first pages, which is usually enough to see how extraction handles your logs. An email is only needed when you want to download the results, and providing it earns you a free demo code for 10 additional pages.
It goes well beyond OCR. Traditional drill log OCR reads printed characters but struggles with handwritten lithology descriptions, multi-page tables, and inconsistent historical forms. LogDog uses vision AI that understands drill log structure — it reads handwriting, classifies each page, stitches tables across pages, and groups everything by drill hole before you export. Yes — that's exactly what LogDog is built for. Government assessment files, typewritten diamond drilling logs from the 1970s and 80s, handwritten borehole records, and assay certificates all convert into a structured drillhole database: collar, survey, lithology, and assay tables ready for your modeling software.
logdog.ai currently supports PDF files. Each page of your PDF counts as one processing credit. Scanned, photographed, and native PDFs are all supported.
Our AI extraction is highly accurate for most drill log formats. Results may occasionally need minor corrections with complex or unusual layouts. If you're not satisfied with results, contact us and we'll re-process at no additional cost.
Excel workbooks, CSV files, or JSON. We also offer a consolidated export following the industry-standard drillhole database structure used by Leapfrog, Micromine, Surpac, and Datamine.
Uploaded files are automatically deleted within 7 days (30 days for paid accounts). Your documents are never reviewed by staff and never sold or shared. Documents are transmitted to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) solely for extraction processing. All connections use HTTPS. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for full details.
